Nexus Integrated Burner Control System from Fireye

Fireye Nexus is a flame safeguard and parallel positioning combustion controller in one compact, user-configurable package.

System Components:

Controller

Display

Temperature/Pressure Sensors

Positioning Motors/Servos

Flame safeguard controls provide these burner sequencing features:
  • Safe-start check
  • Proof of main valve closure
  • Selectable main gas safety proving sequence
  • Supervised pre-purge
  • Low-fire starting position
  • Pilot and main trials for ignition
  • Main flame supervision
  • Post purge

INTEGRATED CONTROLLER APPLICATIONS

  • Hospitals
  • Chemical Plants
  • Factories
  • Process Refineries
  • Universities
  • Schools
  • District Heating
FEATURES

Nexus features safety event timings to meet North American and EC standards. Also, fast, reliable scanning of most commonly burned fuels is provided by Fireye Flame Scanners and amplification circuits using UV, UV-self check and infrared sensors. Ten user-defined auxiliary inputs provide supervision of safety critical and non-critical inputs.

Control of up to four channels using independent servo motors for each controlled element allows precise positioning, accurate to 0.1°, of fuel and air metering devices of the burner's firing range.

One of two fuel profiles can be selected for each fuel channel, with 24 positions per profile, including:
  • Closed
  • Purge
  • Ignition (Preferred Start(tm))
  • Low Fire
  • An additional 20 intermediate positions from low to high fire
  • Position and speed of each servo motor is verified by the system, and lock-out occurs when set parameters are exceeded.

Other provisions of Nexus Integrated Burner Control System include:

  • Modulation control via pressure/temperature sensor input
  • Checking of circuits for fail-safe operation (Fireye NX1030 & NX1040)
  • PID set points for chosen modulation input, selectable to two decimal points
  • Track modulation for applications requiring less precise control

NX550 Display makes it possible through a tactile membrane keypad for the user to:

  • Commission the system
  • Obtain current status
  • Access various ratio modes and option select menus

NX550 2-line, 20 character Vacuum Fluorescent Display clearly illustrates:

  • Control variable
  • Firing mode
  • Fuel selected
  • Hours run

NX550 Display provides the boiler operator access to:

  • Auto/manual selector
  • Motor data (servo positions)
  • System sequence position
  • Valve-proving sequence status
  • Gas pressure
  • Flame signal
  • Modulation rate
  • Setpoint

Multiple Boiler Sequencing is accomplished through an RS485 communications bus using ConFire software. Lead/lag and standby set points for up to ten boilers can be configured as well.
